Sony unveils a VR headset for Xperia smartphones for $260

At the launch event of the Xperia Pro-I smartphone, Sony also presented the Xperia View VR virtual reality helmet. It became the first Xperia device in this category – Sony previously released only the PlayStation VR headset. However, in the case of Xperia View VR, we are talking about an accessory for Xperia smartphones, which are inserted into glasses according to an already well-forgotten scheme.
The glasses only work with “Xperia 1 III” and “Xperia 1 II” phones. Both devices have 4K resolution displays and can broadcast an image of sufficiently high quality, comparable in clarity to the capabilities of autonomous glasses for viewing content from Pico or DPVR. Xperia Pro-I, which is characteristic, does not fit the “cardboard”.
The novelty provides a horizontal viewing angle of 120 degrees, and its lenses have a hybrid structure with high focusing efficiency. It also has the function of adjusting the distance between the lenses, which allows users to customize the device for themselves.
To work with the headset, the Japanese presented a special Xperia View application, which conveniently displays a list of applications compatible with the headset and other VR content.
You can manage the content through special cutouts through which you can reach the touch screen with your finger. You can move the cursor using the volume keys, and select objects using the camera button. Controllers were not provided for the novelty.
Glasses can be bought in the Japanese Sony online store and the Au store at a price of 29700¥ (about $ 260 or 18000₽). They are not talking about the global availability of the accessory yet.
