Samsung will supply folding displays to other manufacturers

The main customers may be Chinese companies.

Korean giant Samsung will start shipping foldable displays for smartphones from other manufacturers, ET News reported. The company plans to start production and delivery of components in the third quarter of 2021. Samsung will supply displays with a horizontal folding, which is implemented on the Galazy Z Flip smartphone and a vertical type, like the Galaxy Z Fold 2. According to the publication, the main buyers of folding displays from Samsung will be Chinese manufacturers. Partners may be the brands Vivo and OPPO, which allegedly plan to release the first phone models with such displays in the second half of 2021. Also earlier it became known about possible plans of Xiaomi for the release of phones with a folding display, 3DNews reported. There are also rumors about the appearance of the new iPhone, the presentation of which is due to take place in the fall of this year. So far, phones of this unusual type can be purchased from Samsung, Microsoft and Huawei. Experts believe that the Korean company has engaged in expanding its influence in the market of foldable smartphones due to the confidence of growing demand in this segment.
