The company plans to grow at the expense of the Russian-speaking population, which will attract foreigners to the service.
The Russian dating service Mamba is going to enter the markets of Italy and Germany, investments in these areas will total $ 3 million, the company told vc.ru.
Mamba plans to start growing with registrations of Russian-speaking residents and then switch to foreigners. By the end of 2021, the company is set to enter the top 5 popular dating apps in Germany and Italy.
In the markets of both countries, the average revenue per paying user per month is more than 1000 rubles, almost twice as much as in Russia. Mamba’s main competitors are Tinder, Badoo, Bumble, Lovoo, Happn, as well as German services such as Lovescout24.
Fintech Lab analyst Sergei Vilyanov told Kommersant that it is unclear whether the service will succeed in entering the market. There is no significant Russian-speaking community in Italy, and in Germany there are people who moved in the 1990s who no longer need acquaintances, he says.
In addition to Russia, Mamba has been present in Israel since April 2019. In January 2020, the company began its promotion in the Turkish market. Mamba invested $ 1 million, hoping to get into the top 3 applications in the segment, but so far the service is only in the top 5.
Mamba was founded in 2003 and today is represented in 50 countries. According to its own data, the service has 60 million registered profiles. According to the Kontur.Fokus system, the company’s revenue for 2019 amounted to 964 million rubles, net profit – 251 million rubles.
