Product Hunt founder Ryan Hoover graduated from the University of Oregon School of Business, worked for a company in the field of games and IT, but gave up his career because he was too fond of collecting information about startups and sharing it.
The Product Hunt platform appeared in 20 minutes as a mailing list with a daily selection of information about new projects and startups. Hoover gathered his first audience thanks to Twitter and the help of friends.
The mailing list “for your own” grew into a large platform, and three years later it was bought by the site AngelList for $20 million. Hooper won the Crunchies award for Silicon Valley IT Blogs for best startup, was able to monetize it, and continues to work on Product Hunt, adding new features.
