Hello Again!

We talked about moving we from Walters Ok. to Hobart Ok. Donna followed me with the pickupand the draper head. 4:00 that afternoon was the time we got there. We didn’t have the campers moved yet so Donna didn’t have a place to go while we were harvesting. She rode with me in the combine until about 11:30 and we had to drive back to Walters yet. We didn’t get to the camp ground until 1:30 in the morning.

The next morning came early, we were up and at it by 6:00. It was a two hour drive and we had to find a place to camp yet. To get this all done before the dew went off we had to get moving on time that morning. We were all tired from the night before but knew we had to keep moving.

South of Hobart we found a state park to set up camp. It was a little out of the way but had bathrooms and showers that would help out since we only had one for all of us in the motor home. There were many trees in the park and I couldn’t get satellite TV: I needed a clear view to the south. Donna was not real happy the first day we were there and she did not have TV to watch but she need sleep anyway.

It was 11:00 or so when we got to the field and the wheat was really close to working. Matt my truck driver took the load that was still on the truck from the night before to the elevator. Shirley stopped by that morning and warned us about the rattle snakes that were in the area. She said they can crawl up into the combine I greased and serviced the combine that morning paying more attention to where I put my hands. This was our first encounter with the threat of rattle snakes. We have bull snakes and garner snakes where I’m from but not rattlers. Shirley just wanted us to be aware of them.

We got started combining about 11:30 or so and stayed at it until midnight. We didn’t get as much done as I intended that day because the lines at the elevator were very long and I was waiting for the truck almost every load that day. The train came through the night and loaded with wheat and that made the lines lessen the next day which helped with the rest of our stay at Hobart.
