The company has announced a new format that is not supported by any of its headphones.
Apple has confirmed to The Verge that uncompressed audio is not supported on AirPods of any model.
The AirPods and AirPods Pro headphones are completely wireless and use the AAC Bluetooth codec for compression, which can not provide the necessary music quality, writes The Verge. AirPods Max support wired mode, but even so the sound quality will not be able to reach the required level.
The company also clarified that its HomePod and HomePod Mini speakers will not be able to play high-quality sound.
At the same time, the “spatial audio” feature will be available on AirPods, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. Therefore, any songs that have Dolby Atmos mixes will feel more exciting than their stereo counterparts.
Apple announced that the new generation of audio will be available to Apple Music subscribers in June 2021 at no additional cost. The app will be available to transmit audio using Spatial Audio technology with Dolby Atmos support. Spatial Audio allows you to broadcast tracks with multidimensional sound and clarity.
